A Weekend At Foodies Festival
The arrival of Foodies Festival in Edinburgh from the 5th-7th August saw us smuggle our spirits to Inverleith Park for a weekend spent sharing our locally produced sustainable gins and vodka with the masses!
We joined an exciting line-up of local artisan food and drink producers, and spent the weekend offering samples and selling bottles of our Scottish gin range and Scottish vodka. From behind our bustling stall, we met some lovely groups of festival goers, and enjoyed live music from Scottish chart-topper Callum Beattie, N-Trance, Voyage – The ABBA tribute band and more.
A big event in our calendar: the Foodies Festival marked the first opportunity to buy bottles of our new summer flavoured gin range and the stunning bottles of Orange, Raspberry and Strawberry flavoured gins added a pop of colour to our display.
We also presented our award-winning London Dry and Navy Strength Gins – Smugglers Gin and Old Sins Gin – as well as our brand-new Scottish Vodka and Malones Irish Whiskey.
A few thousand compostable sample cups later and the word is out! Naturally grown botanicals really do create a smoother irresistible gin, and pure Scottish water makes for a deliciously drinkable vodka.
We were overwhelmed with the positive reactions that we received from everyone who tasted our range of spirits, adding further fuel to our passion for producing sustainable Scottish gin and Scottish vodka.
In addition to our stall, we also hosted a Drinks Theatre event, outlining the Smuggling history of Edinburgh and the tale of the Porteous Riots which inspired the creation of Smugglers Spirits. A gin tasting with a difference – audiences were introduced to the sustainable methods that go into producing Smugglers Spirits, and the complex flavours which are shaped by local ingredients grown in Scotland.
We were thrilled with the popularity of our gin range, in particular our Navy Strength, Old Sins Gin, which packs a punch at 57.5% but surprises with a floral body fashioned by Geranium and Opium Poppy botanicals, which are naturally grown and hand-harvested at the foot of the Pentland Hills.
One of our many Foodies highlights was when Laura (imperfectly_eco_family on Instagram) came to say hi after winning festival tickets through our Instagram competition – thank you for entering and we hope you enjoy your bottle of Smugglers Gin!
